Dell created XPS to be a higher end or "luxury" brand first, gaming alternative second. Goal number one was to make life miserable for Sony's Viao line. I have purchased an XPS 400 desktop for my kids and an M140 laptop for myself. Both were actually the best values anywhere and throw in the 18 month free financing, it was a no brainer.
